Homemade Butter Chicken

A rich and creamy Indian dish made with tender chicken in a spiced tomato sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1 can (14 oz) tomato puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate chicken in yogurt and spices for at least 1 hour.
  2. Heat butter in a pan and sauté onions until golden.
  3. Add garlic and ginger; cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Add marinated chicken and cook until browned.
  5. Stir in tomato puree and simmer for 20 minutes.
  6. Pour in heavy cream and cook for another 10 minutes.
  7. Serve with rice or naan.

Notes

  • Adjust spice levels to your preference.
  • Can use boneless chicken for quicker cooking.
  • Garnish with cilantro before serving.
